WHERE & WHEN:
The magnificent Umbria region of Italy
June 27 - July 02, 2012
WHY SHOULD I ATTEND THIS WORKSHOP?
If you need to refine your off-camera flash techniques and set yourself apart from the competition, if you're struggling with mastering your strobes, if your portraits need to greatly improve, if your missing great moments of the bride and groom, if you're looking for hands on training, if you're frustrated with clients that don't appreciate you as an artist, if you're losing out on sales because you don't know where to begin..... then these are all great reasons why you should attend. And hanging out with cool people is always a plus!
ANOTHER FANTASTIC REASON TO ATTEND:
Our fine art Italian book company, GraphiStudio, will be providing a generous promotional discount on a 13" x 9.5" fine art book for all of our attendees. You will be able to showcase a fabulous destination wedding with all of your images from Giulia + Marco's wedding to your future potential clients. GraphiStudio books are a work of art and we are so appreciative for their support. Thank you GraphiStudio! You can contact us for more specifics about this offer.
HOW MANY WORKSHOP ATTENDEES WILL THIS BE AVAILABLE TO?
We've limited this real wedding + workshop to 15 attendees. We realize that many attendees may want to share their Italy experience with a loved one, so we are limiting the attendance to 30 people. (15 photographers and 15 guests).
DO I NEED A PASSPORT?
If you are traveling from anywhere outside of Italy, you will need a passport. If you do not have a passport already, begin working on that now. In the United States, it can take 4-6 weeks from the time of application to obtain a passport. One can be expedited as well in 2-3 weeks for a fee. Also, make sure to check the expiration date of your passport. It's generally not a good idea to travel when it's close to expiring. Click here for more details.
WHAT EQUIPMENT SHOULD I BRING?
Bring the camera gear (and their manuals) that you use on a shoot. And for those who like to journal, bring one to write down all the beautiful things you see and learn. Bringing your laptop is highly encouraged as we like to edit, cull and save our images each night. The villa we are staying at should have WI-FI internet.
A laptop, memory cards, card readers, flashes & light modifiers (if you have any), and an open mind. Take lots of notes and ask many questions. Bring your business cards and even a portfolio to share with us and all the attendees during breaks. It's a great way to network with each other. Check the attitudes at the door, this is going to be FUN!!!
IS IT OKAY IF I'M NOT A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER?
Definitely! You can apply all the techniques you learn towards any type of photography. You do not have to be a wedding photographer. But it is REQUIRED that you have a working knowledge of your equipment.
WHAT IS INCLUDED?
This is a 5 day all-inclusive workshop. Included is accommodations, all in-country transportation during workshop and 3 delicious meals a day. Please note that all attendees/guests are responsible for their own airfare to Italy. We recommend ordering Euro from your local bank before the workshop as the exchange rate is lower when doing so. You can use your ATM cards in Italy, but there is a foreign transaction fee added for every transaction. Also, you can exchange currency at airports and the banks in Italy but the exchange rate is usually higher there.
WILL I NEED TO SUBMIT IMAGES TO THE BRIDE, GROOM & MODELS?
All attendees are required to submit an edited CD of your favorite images to the models. We will send an email reminder out to everyone after the workshop is over. Giulia + Marco would absolutely LOVE it if you would be so kind and share your images on a DVD within 30 days from the day the workshop ends.
HOW TO I REGISTER?
Click on the "Sign Me Up" link. We accept all registrations through Paypal only. The entire non-refundable fee will be charged to your credit card so please make sure you have no conflicts in your schedule before moving forward with your registration.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
I always tend to over pack, I guess it's a girlie thing to do. I'll be bringing one large suitcase filled with clothes and shoes. I'll leave enough room for souvenirs. I know that Bob will pack a lot lighter in the clothes/shoes area than I will. He will have a medium size suitcase for clothes and will be bringing an International size carry on from Think Tank for all his equipment that he will bring on the plane with him. He will also be checking his lighting bag for his light stands and modifiers.
We both will be bringing a nice outfit for the wedding day. Beyond that, we'll be packing for warmer weather. The average temperature for June/July in Umbria area of Italy is in the 80s & 90s. Most importantly, make sure to have comfortable shoes for your trip because we'll be on our feet a lot. There will be days we will walking a lot, so make sure you're ready to hit the steep hills of Umbria. There may be days that we don't have time to change before dinner so I recommend bringing a light jacket/sweater with you at all times. I will also be packing an umbrella in case it rains.
WHAT AIRPORT DO YOU RECOMMEND?
Please check out "Travel Recommendations" link for all the details.
CAN YOU HOOK ME UP WITH A ROOMMATE?
We will create a group on Facebook and send an email out to all attendees before the workshop begins so you can communicate with everyone to see if anyone else is looking to share a room. You may want to start that conversation right away, as people usually connect quickly!
