We are headed to WPPI next month and we're so excited. It's going to be an amazing show as always! February 18th, the Saturday before the convention floor opens for WPPI 2012 in Las Vegas, we will be hosting a photo shootout at a photographer's dream location, an old ghost town in Nelson, Nevada, where many famous movies and music videos have been filmed.
This private property is a historical landmark nestled within the Eldorado Canyon and is owned by Bobbie and Tony Werly. It will make you feel like you've stepped back in time and has loads of delicious spots to make some incredible photographs. There are old buildings, a barn, a crashed airplane, a gas station, old signs and pumps, old mining equipment, and vintage rusted out cars and trucks, all used when the local Techatticup gold mine was in operation.
So, if you're up to feeling like a kid in the candy store with many intriguing sites to capture, then this is an adventure for you! The photographic backdrops are endless and we have hired many beautiful models from professional dancers, actors and singers to photograph.
Although we are not arriving in a time machine, we have rented a large Motor Coach bus to take all of us to and from the MGM Signature to the ghost town. The bus will be picking us up at 11:30pm leaving the hotel at 12pm. We will arrive at the ghost town around 1pm where we will shoot for 4 hours. The sun starts to set around 4pm so there will be plenty of opportunity for some awesome twilight shots.
Please keep in mind that this is not a workshop but an awesome opportunity for an incredible photographic experience. Bob will be demonstrating his off camera flash techniques and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
We will arrive at a small museum where we will check-in with the property caretakers of the area. Everyone attending, including models, will be required to sign a waiver and model release.
